Unit 5: Homes in Britain.


90% of the population live in towns. Sixty per cent of the population live in terraced or semi-detached houses. Some detached houses are very large, but others can be quite small. Lots of people live in flats, especially in big towns and cities. Houses in different parts of Britain can look very different. Cottage is the name for a small house in the country. English people spend a lot of money on their homes and gardens.

Unit 4: Shopping.


People in Britain really like shopping. They often go shopping everyday. Traditional local shops exist in some areas. But in most high streets in Britain, the same shop names appear all the time. There are lots of big, out-of-town shopping centres. The most obvious feature is the car park, because people drive to the centres. The Bluewater it's the largest shopping complex in Europe, with over 330 diferent shops and the big department stores. For a lot of people going shopping doesn't mean they are going to buy anything.

Unit 3:The school day.


For most students, the school day starts between eight thirty and nine o'clock. The school day starts with registration. Each lesson lasts for an hour. At the end of the lesson a bell rings. This is 15 minutes when students go out into the the playground. After break it's back to work. But there's always the lunch break to look forward to. There's usually time to play games, talk with friends... . After lunch it's back to the classroom. It also popular. The final bell foes at three thirty to mark the end of school.

Unit 2: Packed lunch.



Most schools in Britain provide hot meals and salads everyday but many students prefer to take their own lunch to school.
Sara and her father make her packed lunch. Sarah's lunch is healthy- mainly! Sarah eats with friends in the school cafeteria. A lot of chocolate, crisps etc isn't good for people. One school in England helps students to eat healthy food. Green Machines have got interesting snacks. And a water, smoothies etc. These students are enjoying their food.

The Queen of England is Elizabeth the Second and this husband is the Duke of Edinburgh
and they've got four children.
The Queen live in a Buckingham Palace, the flag flies when the Queen is there.
The Royal Family's name is Windsor, they live in a castle near London.
Prince William and Prince Harry are the Queen's grandchildren.
Charles, William and Harry like to ride horses, they like playing polo.
Prince William and Prince Harry live in Clarence House.
